My honest take — the good, the not-so-good, and what I’d change
👍 What I Loved
- Off-the-charts chemistry between Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu
- A modern, grown-up workplace romance that reaches beyond the usual C-drama tropes
- No evil parents, no scheming vamps, no dragged-out misunderstandings — conflicts resolve fast
👎 What Didn’t Land
- A generic, forgettable plot — you watch entirely for the leads, not the story
- The final six-episode arc regresses the ML into an obsessive version of himself — a jarring character throwback
- Strong supporting actors like Riley Wang and Kido Gao are wasted on underdeveloped roles
- The investment-banking backdrop grows repetitive and feels thinly sketched
- Allergic to tears? Is that even a real thing? Such an odd little trope
✏️ What I’d Change
I spent the whole show wondering why the ML kept bullying her. He says he’s trying to make her stronger — but I don’t buy that anyone needs to deliberately make life harder for someone else. Life has its own way of making a person strong, no forcing required.
